Corundum

Ruby

The ruby is one of the most famous and popular gemstones and belongs to the group of corundum. It is rare and particularly hard (9/10 Mohs). Rubies are usually blood-red in color. The most important deposits are in Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and Sri Lanka. In rings, rubies are usually set with diamonds.

We have a substantial selection of rings with small to medium-sized rubies, often in combination with diamonds.

Sapphires

Sapphires were also often set in combination with other stones, especially diamonds. We have some sapphires, most of them blue. It is interesting to note that every non-red corundum is categorized as a sapphire. And yet the precious stones are not the darkest blue, but rather the intense blue sapphires. Incidentally, on average far more large sapphires are found than large rubies. Most of them come from Australia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Apart from blue sapphires, there are also yellow, green, orange and steel-blue sapphires, which are often mined in East Africa. It's well known that pink, purple, and orange-pink sapphires come from Sri Lanka.

Like rubies, sapphires are very hard stones (9/10 Mohs).
